Life360 Community Services is a non-religious non-profit organization based in Springfield, Missouri. We are focused on feeding, housing, educating, and empowering our community! Through these initiatives, we aim to fight the effects of food insecurity and create stronger communities for all ages. Read on to learn more about our programming!
Feed: Via a USDA grant, we are able to serve 32,000 children a day at 68 school districts across Missouri and Arkansas. At the schools we serve, each classroom will have a 15-minute enrichment period after the end of educational minutes. This period includes an educational activity and a bagged meal! This bag will include the five main components of a healthy meal: vegetable, fruit, whole grain, meat/meat alternate, and a carton of milk.
House: Located in Springfield are two sober living houses and an affordable housing apartment complex. LCS partners with Life360 House & Life360 Sister House to provide residents with the community, accountability, resources and social capital they need to thrive on their own. Y Gardens is a community that works together to better the lives of tenants. Some classes that are offered include Love and Logic (parenting course), financial literacy courses, and car maintenance training. This is available for families and individuals, with a set amount of apartments reserved for youth aging out of foster care. Three additional apartment complexes are currently in the works in Branson, MO, with Fall Creek Apartments set to be completed by the end of the year.
Educate: There are three Life360 Preschools in Missouri, located in Springfield, Bell City, and Monett. Our preschools are child and family development centers dedicated to providing quality early childhood education for children ages newborn to 5 years old. The locations in Bell City and Monett also include afterschool care for children ages 6 – 12. The latest preschool, located in Monett, will be able to care for over 100 children and has plans to be open by the end of August!
Empower: Our main empowerment programs are Jobs for Life and Children’s Business Fair. Jobs for Life is an eight week course focused on the skills needed for adults to find and keep a job. This program is run at Life360 Fairbanks and has a 100% job placement rate. Children’s Business Fair is a one-day event that gives children ages 18 and under the opportunity to create a business plan and offers an avenue to sell their products to the public. Participants learn customer service skills, financial management, and marketing techniques.
We love having the opportunity to offer these programs and getting to see the difference these programs make in our communities. To keep up to date on our work in our four initiatives, visit life360communityservices.org and follow us on Facebook @Life360CommunityServices!
