As summer fades and a new school year begins, Life360 Community Services continues its mission to empower rural communities across America. This past summer has been a busy season of service, with our Summer Feeding Program and Block Party Program making an impact in rural communities. As we transition into the school year, our School-Year Feeding Program is ready to nourish students in rural Missouri and Arkansas, ensuring children have access to healthy meals. Here’s a look back at the summer and a preview of what is coming up.
Summer Feeding Program
Throughout the summer, Life360 Community Services reached thousands of children in need through our Summer Feeding Program. With drive-through distribution sites in communities like Birch Tree, MO, and several towns across Kansas (Chetopa, Oswego, Parsons, and Baxter Springs), we provided over 46,000 nutritious meals to children. In Springfield, MO, an additional 3,400 meals were served at our congregate meal site, ensuring that children had consistent access to healthy food during the summer break.
The success of the program was made possible by our dedicated volunteers and site managers, whose efforts were instrumental in reaching children and families across these regions. Their commitment to fighting food insecurity brought essential support to rural communities, where access to resources can be limited.
Block Party Program
Summer isn’t just about nourishing bodies; it’s also about having fun! Our Block Party Program brought classic summer fun to seven communities across Missouri, offering families a chance to enjoy lively gatherings with inflatables, games, and carnival snacks. These block parties created a joyful atmosphere where community members could come together, celebrate the season, and build stronger connections with their neighbors.
The events provided an opportunity for families to relax and enjoy summer fun, particularly in rural areas where such experiences are rare. The laughter and excitement shared during these celebrations showcased the vibrant community spirit that defines Life360 Community Services’ outreach efforts.
School-Year Feeding Program
With the new school year just around the corner, Life360 Community Services is gearing up for another season of the School-Year Feeding Program. This initiative ensures that children in rural communities continue to receive nutritious meals throughout the academic year. We pack and distribute healthy meals directly to schools, allowing kids to thrive.
Last school year, over 6,000 meals were served daily to children from 26 feeding sites across Missouri and Arkansas.
